A resident of Smyrna, Georgia, Barbara Kaumeyer has worked in financial operations, risk management, internal audit, and compliance management sectors for 19 years. In her present role, Barbara Kaumeyer is a Financial Manager for Cobb County Water Systems.
Ms. Kaumeyer’s career began when the Department of Audits and Accounts (DOAA) in 2006 when they hired her as a Staff Auditor. In this position, she performed various auditing functions for the agency for 12 years including fraud investigations, ACFR reviews, and on-site audits. She also worked briefly with H&R Block, in addition to working with the DOAA, as a Tax Preparer in the 2010-2011 tax seasons. In 2018, the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) hired her to work as an Internal Audit Manager, which included preparing an enterprise risk management matrix for four State hospitals, monitoring and performing compliance reviews on over 600 provider locations, and maintaining the Provider portal for annual KPI requirements. Barbara remained with DBHDD until transitioning to Cobb County Water Systems in 2020 to work as a Finance Manager.
As Finance Manager for Cobb County, Ms. Kaumeyer collaborates with water system and county administrators, elected officials, and county employees to review activities and make recommendations. She oversees staff and manages, organizes short- and long-term budgetary financial plans. She is also in charge of year-end activities, such as closing the books, organizing annual audits, and providing statistical data.
In addition to her role with Cobb County Water Systems, Mr. Kaumeyer is Chairwoman for the Fiscal Management Council and holds memberships with the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners the Institute of Internal Auditors, and the Government Finance Officers Association. In addition to earning a bachelor’s in accounting from Jacksonville State University, she is a Certified Government Financial Auditing Professional and a Certified Fraud Examiner.
